Track and Field
Mini League Track and Field
The Notts Mini-League is a great way to try out competitive athletics for the first time. The age groups have been updated to cover U10s, U12s, U14s and U16s.
The U10s will take part in the Funetics Challenge, where all athletes compete 50m, 400m, long jump and howler javelin throw to gain points and see who is the highest scorer on the day!
The U12s, U14s and U16s will take part in the usual mix of sprints (75m/100m, 150m/200m), hurdles (75m/80m hurdles), long distance (600m/800m, 1500m) and field events (long jump, high jump, shot, discus, javelin). The exact events varies depending on age group and the timetable for each meeting. Full details at www.notts-minileague.co.uk/track-and-field
These are very much bring the family and picnic events. The athletes all love hanging out with each other and cheering on their friends in each event trying to score as many points for the club as possible.
So if you are an U10 to U16 at the club and enjoy running, jumping and throwing, or want to try something new, then join team RAC.

Performance at the mini-league also helps with club selection for the prestigious YDL events (see below)
Youth Development League
The YDL is a prestigious national competition giving athletes the opportunity and experience to compete against other high-level athletes in their age group from clubs in the East Midlands. It is a track and field event offering a range of running, throwing and jumping events. Athletes can choose up to 3 events plus a relay. RAC are competing in the lower age group (LAG) matches for U14 and U16 athletes. Where we have more requests for places than we have capacity, we will revert to Power of 10 for place allocation and will try and accommodate as many athletes’ requests as possible. Upper age group athletes (U18 and U20) can compete in the newly formed Nottinghamshire County Development League (see below).
When: There are 3 Fixtures for the LAG in the summer of 2026 – 3rd May, 31st May and 18th July.

Nottinghamshire County Development League
The new Nottinghamshire Development League is open to all athletes in the U16 age group (School year 9 and 10) and above. For those senior and master athletes within the club this is the ideal opportunity to compete locally. All masters will use the appropriate weights/hurdle for their age group instead of the usual senior weights/heights. You are more than welcome to compete in more than one event. - U16 and U18 athletes are allowed to compete in 3 events plus a relay. - U20’s may enter 5 events (or 4 events plus a relay). - Seniors and Masters can enter as many events as they wish. There is no limit on how many RAC athletes can enter each event on the track, but field events may be limited to a maximum of 20 athletes from all the clubs. Field events: each athlete will receive a minimum of 3 trials up to a maximum of 6 depending on numbers entered (at discretion of lead official). This is also an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to have a go at officiating under the supervision of some experience officials from the county. If you could spare a couple of hours on the day we would be grateful for your help and you can try field/timekeeping/track judging. Should you wish to then go onto qualify as a level 1 judge then this all counts towards your experience. WITHOUT officials there are no competitions!
