Sportshall
Sportshall is inside (so is warm) and features all your favourite athletic events, but adapted for the confines of a sportshall. As well as sprints, relay, shot, javelin, standing long and triple jump, there are also some slightly different events such as Speed Bounce, Chest Push & Vertical High Jump. It’s a great way for athletes to keep fit and compete for the club during the colder winter months.
At Sportshall the emphasis is on fun and inclusivity, so no matter what your ability it is a great opportunity to put on your RAC vest, represent your club and cheer on your team mates.
Athletes generally select 3 events plus the relay and the events change each fixture to ensure every discipline is covered during the season. It’s hectic and fast paced at times, but the team is managed by Rachel and Juliet, so everyone knows what they are doing and when. All the children have a fantastic time and parents are encouraged to stay and be part of the atmosphere.
When: Five fixtures between October and February each year. One fixture per month (the first one is an Under 11’s only event)
Where: Kirkby in Ashfield Leisure Centre on a Sunday morning
Ages: U11 to U15
Entry Cost: Covered by the club
Team Managers: Rachel Wright & Juliet Whiteside. Contact [email protected]
Parents - We are required to provide a small team of helpers at each event to assist with officiating one or two events. It’s super easy and basically involves either measuring something, counting something, writing something down or manning a stopwatch! Please come, stay, watch and help where possible. It’s an easy way to start getting involved with your child’s club and feel part of the action.
